The flu vaccination program has started today, part of the health authorities’ autumn-winter plan to minimize the risk of complications arising from seasonal flu, especially in the pandemic situation.

Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu was today at the Central Polyclinic in Tirana, to launch the process of vaccination against influenza, which began with the health personnel.

“This year, both within our autumn-winter strategy and the control of infectious diseases, we have managed to make it possible in a very short time to bring the flu vaccine in September. “Today is the first day of launching this program, starting with the health staff”, said Manastirliu.

The Minister of Health stated that several times more vaccines have been provided than a year ago.

“Based on the recommendation of experts, we have managed to finance in time and provide 368 thousand doses of vaccines, the first amount of which has arrived and started to be distributed in health centers, in order to vaccinate risk categories, starting with the health staff, continuing with the teachers, educators, continuing with the chronically ill, and those over 65”, said Manastirliu.

The director of the Institute of Public Health, Albana Fico, emphasized that the first quantity has arrived on time despite the pandemic situation, and will continue with the arrival of other doses, according to plan.
