The fall of stones has caused damage to several houses in the coastal area of Uji i Ftohte, after the heavy rain yesterday in Vlora, in the southwestern coast of Albania.
Two houses are reported to have severely damaged as the residents say that the stones and mud that fell from the mountainside entered inside, making it impossible to stay in the apartments.
They add that they have asked for help from the institutions, but so far they have not received any response.
“The entrance is full of mud, I’m in the open sky, I don’t know where to go. I beg the state to help me, I don’t even haveany clothes, these ones have dried up on our bodies”, said one of the residents, whose house was destroyed.
Meanwhile, in the city of Vlora, yesterday’s rains caused flooding in the streets, while it is known that one of the pumps exploded in the city’s water collectors.
The officials said that the incident happened today, after the four hydrovor pumps were in operation throughout the night to clean the remnants of the rain.
After the explosion, a fire started and as a result, the four hydraulic pumps were turned off.
The work continues for the return to function of the cleaning system.
