Top Channel’s investigative program ‘Fiks Fare’ brought tonight the case of an abused woman, who along with her five sons has been left homeless.

Sonela Manaj told the program she has addressed the municipality of Kavaja several times for this problem, but has not received a solution.

“My five sons, the eldest 13 years old and the 7-year-old twins, have not been to school for 4 months,” Sonela says with tears in her eyes.

According to her, it was not only her who was abused by her husband, but also her five children. For this she has received a protection order from the court, which states that the municipality should shelter them, but according to Sonela, the officials have not been of help.

She states that she is alone with 5 children, without any income, except for the financial assistance of the 13-year-old boy, which she uses to pay the rent.

Fiks Fare journalists addressed the Municipality of Kavaja for an answer, and the deputy mayor explained that the rent bonus will be approved for the woman at the nearest council meeting.

Currently, the municipality justifies itself saying that they helped her with food, and referred her for work, but that the woman had nowhere to leave her children. Deputy Mayor Guxim Kola promised that the abused mother with 5 children will soon be provided with housing.

“Our municipality went through difficulties with the earthquake and pandemic and we did not have the budget to house Sonela, but we will solve it with a rent bonus and later with social housing,” said Kola.
