Today’s session of the Albanian parliament has brought severe tensions due to the protest of the DP opposition both inside and outside the parliament.
The session were interrupted by the chaos caused by the DP deputies who grabbed chairs and after piling them in the center of the hall, tried to set them on fire.
The officers of the republican guard reacted by stopping the worsening of the situation while the democrats accused that the security forces had threatened them with weapons.
This was later denied by police officials.
The State Police later said that no police officer was equipped with firearms during the gathering outside the hall, but only with protective equipment and rubber batons.
After several hours of protests, the opposition deputies and supporters gathered at the headquarters of their party, where the General Secretary of the DP, Flamur Noka, said that “the socialists are in a panic from the civil disobedience of the opposition”.
“As you saw today, the regime reached its peak. It had never happened that the special police forces, armed to the teeth, to enter the premises of the republican guard building and threaten with the barrel of their weapons the MPs, the representatives of the people. This is where democracy dies”, said Noka, among other things.
