The number of appearances in the emergency departments has increased in these hot days of July, is reported by the Fier hospital in the southwest of Albania.
According to the cardiologist, Viktor Gjini, these temperatures have influenced the increase in emergencies and hospitalizations, as the number of cases goes over 100 patients a day or about 20% more cases than in normal.
The highest number of patients affected by these temperatures are the elderly and children, as well as those patients suffering from chronic diseases, cardiovascular and nervous system diseases. High temperatures have also increased cases of insect and reptile bites.
The doctor appealed to the citizens to avoid exposure during the hot hours of the day and to consume liquids to protect themselves from the heat.
