In a daily statement, the Ministry of Health announced that two other people have recently lost their lives as a result of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, it is learned that 45 new cases have been confirmed within the last 24 hours.
“Unfortunately, a 74-year-old woman from Shkodra and an 82-year-old woman from Tirana, with some concomitant diseases, lost their lives in the infectious disease hospital as a result of progressive respiratory failure, despite treatment in intensive care and medical staff efforts.
“The Ministry of Health and Social Protection expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased. Currently, 71 patients are being treated in the infectious disease hospital, 10 of them are in intensive care, while 2 are intubated in serious condition.
“Meanwhile, during the last 24 hours, 269 tests were performed to suspect Covid19 was affected, of which 45 positive cases were confirmed. The geographical distribution of cases is as follows: 21 cases in Tirana, 10 in Shkodra, 4 in Elbasan, 3 cases in Delvinë, Kurbin, and 1 case in Kruja, Kukës, Lezhë and Saranda. The good news is that in the last 24 hours 57 citizens have recovered cured, bringing the number of cured people to 1516 since the start of the epidemic.
“Currently, there are 999 actively ill people in our country with COVID-19, mainly in Tirana, Shkodra, Durrës “, stated Dr. Marjeta Dervishi from the Institute of Public Health.
