The Chief of the International Monitoring Operation, Genoveva Ruiz
Cavalera, responded to the Minister of Justice, Petrit Vasili, who
raised concerns about the constitutionality of this mission.
“The European Commission services cannot comment on the concerns regarding the communications related to the IMO within the government of Albania, as this is an issue of internal organization to the latter”, the letter says.
It reiterates that the IMO has just a monitoring role in the Vetting Process, not a decision-making one.
Cavalera denied any possibility of having a new agreement with Albania, since the Management Board of the IMO is a non-political and technical organ,
“IMO doesn’t need a new agreement with Albania. The management board is a technical institution of a non-political nature. IMO will complete the task trusted to them by the Constitution of Albania”, the letter says.
