Greek President meets French counterpart, threatens Albania’s and Macedonia’s EU integration

During the dinner held with the French President, Emmanuel Macron, the
President of Greece, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, sent harsh messages against
Albania and Macedonia.
The Greek President said that Skopje and Tirana are undermining their EU progress with their politicl actions.
According to him, Albania is violating property rights, referring to the Urban Plan of the Albanian government for Himara, which residents of the Greek minority in Albania didn’t approve. The majority of municipal councilors, however, voted in favor.
“Albania must find its place in the EU, but by fully respecting the European rights. One of the European rights is human rights. When we see it violated, through the right to property, how could Greece favor such an European perspective of a country that violates European rights?”, Greek President said.
