Greece complains about Albania in Brussels

Greece has sent the case of Albania’s correcting school texts to the European Commissin.

Greek newspapers say that the European MP from the “New Democracy”  Party, Manolis Kefalogiannis, asked the intervention of the European Commission for establishing the truth, according to him, on the Albanian history books, in order to avoid any irrendentist propaganda act in the future.

The Greek MP says that the Albanian school books consider Preveza, Igumenica, Parga and Kostur as Albanian lands.

According to Kefalogiannis, although the former Greek Minister of Education had agreed with his Albanian counterpart to remove these references, nothing seems to have been done.

He refers to the history books that consider as Albanian lands the areas of Chameria, Konica, Kostur and Follorina, and the reference about the Conference of Ambassadors in London, in 1913, which talks about the Albanian lands in the neighboring countries, expanding Albania to Preveza.

He also mentions the references about giving Chameria to Greece in 1913 with images of the Parga river.

This request of Greece comes only a few days after two Greek MPs called the Minister of Education for an interpellation.
