The Albanian authorities will be the ones deciding what they will do with the results of the June 30th elections, said Ambassador Audrey Glover, head of the OSCE/ODIHR monitoring mission for the local elections of 2019.

Glover said that the cycle of the electoral process is not entirely over. “We are watching the complaints with great interest, as an important part of the electoral process. I am happy that there were no violent acts this Sunday, taking in consideration the violence that has been so far in various areas of the country during the past months. But since the electoral process is not over yet, I cannot make a complete description”, Glover said.

“I spoke to some candidates who didn’t have opponents at all. They said that this affected the level of interest in the elections. In 31 from 61 municipalities, voters didn’t have the chance to make a proper election”, the Chairman of the OSCE ODIHR mission said.

For Glover, the local authorities will be the ones to decide regarding the elections that were held without an adversary, after the opposition’s boycott.
