The opening of accession negotiations for Albania is set to take place in June 2019, conditioned by reforms, but this goes for Macedonia as well.
Berlin officials has been very positive for both countries, however, there are requests for Skopje too.
The first one is the important progress made with the independence of the judiciary. The judicial reform is not emphasized for Albania only.
They also focus further efforts in the public administration reform. Bringing as an example the “personnel hiring policy”, the conditions require:
1-Priority for the fight against corruption in all levels, including high-level officials and politicians, by increasing the structural efficiency. This includes a database with regular records
2-Making sure that the framework of the negotiations will be such to guarantee a stable continuity of the reform, especially the ones already approved by Macedonia. Opening and closing individual chapters should be based on clear criteria.
3. Making it clear that Macedonia should make considerable efforts for fulfilling the admission criteria, especially in the rule of law, organized crime, and the creation of a solid register for money laundering and financial crime, etc.
