Former Socialist Party MP Marko Bello, known by the press community as a “friend of journalists”, has passed away at the age of 59. After a stay of several weeks in Turkey, Marko Bello lost the battle with Covid 19.

In the period 1997-2000, Marko Bello served as Albania’s ambassador to Romania and then Deputy Minister of Defense. Marko Bello has been a MP of the Socialist Party for 3 terms from 2001-2013.

In 2009 Mr. Bello joined the Movement for Different Thought within the SP, which had as its main demand the leadership of the mayor when the party loses the election. Involvement in this movement caused him no longer be nominated as MP from the current leaders of the ruling SP.

President Ilir Meta says that this news shocked everyone. “How much pain from this premature departure of a friend, collaborator, colleague, active intellectual, exemplary citizen and exemplary family member!” says the head of state.

Taulant Balla number two of PS says that “during these weeks of battle we hoped every moment that Marko would succeed. “Because Marko was a strong man full of energy.”
