The Albanian special anti-corruption prosecution SPAK says that it is closing the investigations against the former Democratic Prime Minister Sali Berisha, and it has been unofficially announced that he will appear at the Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday at 12 o’clock to communicate the accusation.

In the meantime, the investigations have also been closed for his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi, who must appear within the same date to familiarize himself with the conclusions of the file on the privatization of the premises of the “Partizani” club.

It is not yet known what are the charges formalized by SPAK, which should be presented to Berisha, who has been under house arrest since December 2023.

Jamarbër Malltezi is also under house arrest, while the other accused Fatmir Bektashi, is under the ‘obligation to appear’ measure.

In the fall of 2023, the Special Court announced three security measures imposing an obligation to appear on the former prime ministër, which he did not respect, while his son-in-law ended up under house arrest.
