“Unorganized emigration policies will harm everyone”, says a former
Albanian illegal immigrant in Italy, who turned into a lawyer and today
is running for Mayor of Parma.
Gentian Alimadhi said for Italian journalist, Giuseppe Terranova, that the strong will and desire to do something with his life made him follow important objectives, and now he is a successful professional and also looking to become a politician.
“I was obsessed with the legal permission to stay in Italy. When I finally got it, thanks to a job I found in a factory, I studied and graduated in Italy to become a lawyer. Running for the Parma Municipality is another type of challenge. It depends not only on my strong will, but also on the trust that many people have given me, who are convinced that it is worth fighting for left-centered values such as solidarity, equality and hospitality”, Alimadhi said.
A law was proposed recently in Italy, through which asylum seekers will be allowed to participate in matters that are useful for the society.
“Learning the local language is very important”, says the Albanian lawyer, adding that a better organized formula would be more positive even for asylum seekers, who would receive decent employment, but also for having the immigration mass under control, by also respecting the individual.
