There will be no summary trial in the criminal process against the former Albanain Minister of Defense Fatmir Mediu, whose name was brought back to court by the denunciation of a family from Gërdeci, the village of the March 15, 2008 tragedy where 26 people lost their lives from the explosion at the weapons dismantling camp. 300 others were injured.
The former defense minister is now demanding that the special court call 90 people as witnesses, among them politicians, American and NATO generals, eight former Albanain ministers, both from the Berisha cabinet and from the Rama cabinet.
He says he wants to hear the former secretary of the US Department of Defense, Gordon England, who, along with other Pentagon generals, on the importance of the dismantling process carried out in the plant of the 2008 tragedy, despite dhe claims for lack of safety or employment regulation, in the plant where children also died.
The list submitted to the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime includes former high-ranking officials, such as the former defense ministers of Italy, Germany and North Macedonia, as well as former high-ranking US Defense officials and NATO generals.
The submitted list of 90 witnesses includes ministers such as Gordon England, Franz Josef Jung, Arturo Parisi, military personnel such as Lieutenant General Michael Barbero, Major General Vito Di Ventura, Major General Buzz Kievenaar, Brigadier General Georgios Mouroutsos, Colonel Louis L. Boros and Mr. Gregory Cannata.
The list of Albanian witnesses includes former ministers such as Pandeli Majko, Besnik Mustafaj, Ridvan Bode, Aldo Bumci, etc.
