One week after the helicopter crash that took the life of two military
pilots, the French company, Eurocopter, asked the Albanian authorities
to stop using their next helicopter until they determine the cause of
crash.
Sources confirmed for Top Channel that the Ministry of Defense and Prosecution have been informed about this measure. The Prosecution is carrying on investigations based on article 83 and 46 of the Military Code, for violating the flight regulations.
The EC 145 helicopter that crashed in the Shkoder Lake was brought to Albania together with another one in October 2015. These helicopters should have been used by the military forces for emergency situations. Based on the documentation seized at the Farka Air Command, the crashed helicopter had been in use for the past six months.
The Military Justice Police officers handed over the all documents seized at Farka Air base and at the Control Center. The Prosecution say only after verifying the itinerary reported in these documents, they will summon the right officers for interrogation.
The Ministry of Defense declared through the Chief of Staff that the helicopter with three persons on board was on a training mission.
