The rapporteur for Albania at the European Parliament, Knut Fleckenstein,
met with professors and students of the Social Science Faculty at the
“Luigj Gurakuqi” University in Shkoder, where he spoke about our country’s
challenged the path towards the EU.
Fleckenstein said that while they want Albania in the EU, the justice reform remains a condition, which might pass next week.
“The justice reform is the most important thing for me and my colleagues. There can be justice only with fair and impartial judges. We have contacted all parties and were told that this reform will pass next week. It is very important for the justice reform to pass within six weeks, since only then we can start the agreement for Albania’s EU accession”, Fleckenstein said.
When asked if this reform has opponents, Fleckenstein answered by saying that the political parties are in favor.
“There are individuals who don’t want this reform, but, after six weeks, you will understand if the country is really led by political parties or individuals”, Fleckenstein said.
