Citizens complain that the ticket prices for airlines are very expensive in Albania, while services remain problematic.
“I arrived from London with 500 British pounds. You can go to America with that money”, one of them says.
“Prices are different from what they advertise. It’s very expensive, while the service is very bad”, another one says.
“Authorities say that based to their calculations, prices have been reduced compared to one year ago.
“Prices have dropped with 20% to 30%, compared to the past years, as you can see from statistics”, says Feliks Baci, Director of Civil Aviation.
The Director of the Civil Avioation says that this is the result of a series of measures taken in the past months, the most important of which is the market liberalization.
“We have liberalized flights. The Tirana-Frankfurt line is made through a third country, like Slovenia. Prices cannot be dropped in one day. Our policy is to adopt to the market with norms and rules, without damaging the market. Let’s not allow cheap operators who go bankrupt and leave citizens in the airport like before”, Baci declared.
The travel agencies expressed their concern that Albania has the highest prices in the region, obliging the tourist groups to orient them to airports of neighboring countries.
