Kathleen Ann Kavalec was the candidate of the US President, Donald Trump, for Ambassador to Albania, but she wasn’t confirmed by the Senate.
Top Channel has learned that the Democratic Party of Albania has showed much interest on this development. “Sonoran Policy Group”, the Democratic Party’s new lobbying company in Washington, has made intensive contacts with the US Senate for the process that would appoint Kathleen Ann Kavalec as Ambassador to Albania.
Top Channel’s journalist, Muhamed Veliu, found the correspondence of DPA’s lobbying company, Sonoran Policy Group, dated March 1st 2019, which shows their lobbying activity on behalf of the Democratic Party, as regards the candidate for Ambassador to Albania and other matters related to the security, narco-traffic and terror.
Christian Bourge, the person who lobbies for this company, has sent six e-mails on behalf of the Democratic party, has made two phone calls and attended three meetings with members of the Senate, councilors and senators from the Foreign Policy Committee, who had the documentation of the candidate proposed by Donald Trump.
Christian Bourge has called analyst Molly Lazio; has met with Senator Rob Portman, member of the Foreign Policy Committee at the Senate, who are directly involved with Kavalec’s evaluation process.
When asked by Top Channel, the DPA said that the purpose of this lobbying was focusing “on matters of narco-traffic, organized crime and their ties with the government, issues which received serious attention from the US State Department for the Control Strategy of International Drug Traffic 2017-2018.
In these reports, Albania is considered ‘an operational base of organized crime in the region’, and key for distributing heroin throughout Europe’, and ‘one of the main countries for laundering money’. With the foreign senators we discussed the possibility of discussing about raising these issues with the ambassador, at the hearing session, and encouraging her to turn the fight against the drug traffic into a priority of her work in Albania, together with organized crime and corruption”.
“Sonoran Policy Group” has declared that they haven’t received any payment from the DPA for this lobbying operation in the senate, based on the declarations made at the US Justice Department.
Kathleen Ann Kavalec, nominated by Trump as Ambassador of Albania, received media attention a few days ago, after journalist Sarah Carter, from Fox News, said that the US State Department official had communicated with the former British agent, Cristopher Steeli, who had drafted a case with several claims for conspiracy against the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, and Moscow for the elections 2016.
According to her, this was the reason why the senate didn’t process her candidacy. Kavalec is one of the best experts at the US State Department, a good connoisseur of the Russian Inflience, due to her experience with leading the State Department Office that covered Russia.
Kavalec has been part of America’s diplomacy for the past 30 years. She has worked for the Deputy State Secretary Victoria Nuland and has been a supporter of former President Barack Obama, and of the former Democratic Party candidate for the white house, Hillary Clinton. For each of their campaigns she has made a small donation of 250 USD.
