European MPs, Kukan and Fleckenstein, offer assistance for Justice Reform compromise

The two European MPs, Knut Fleckenstein and Eduard Kukan,
representatives of the two bigger European Parliament parties, offered
to help the Albanian political class to reach an agreement with the
justice reform.

The European MPs who intermediated the decriminalization agreement 18 months ago, said they see with regret how the recent compromise proposition from the international community was rejected.

However, they are convinced that the solution is one step away. They support the International Monitoring Operation to oversee the vetting process, and don’t see how it could reduce the competences of Albanian authorities.  “The involvement of the international partners would reinforce the credibility of the reform for the public and for the international community, and it also follows the lines of the Venice Commission”.
