EU Commissioner: “Kosovo fulfilled conditions for visa liberalization”

In a joint press release with Prime Minister Thaci, the EU Commissioner for Migration and Internal Affairs, Dimitris Avramopoulos gave the rport for Kosovo, saying that their citizens will now travel visa-free to the Schengen area.
He said that the conclusion of the agreement for demarcation with Montenegro has been a big step ahead for the visa liberalization. Avramopoulos greeted all political parties in Kosovo for finding consensus.
The Commissioner underlined that the decision for the visa liberalization is now up to the European Parliament and European Council, since Kosovo has fulfilled all criteria.
Avramopoulos said that the Kosovo authorities should clarify to their citizens the free movement rules, otherwise it could be suspended.
For Thaci, this meant bringing down the last wall for Kosovo. “Let’s end the prolonged isolation to the Kosovo citizens”, Thaci said.
