Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Head of the EU delegation in Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, had to wait
for 15 minutes today until the Deputy Minister of Integration, Eralda
Cani, arrived at a student meeting for discussing Albania’s advantages
with the EU integration.
Besides being late, Deputy Minister Cani also was very clear with her words: “I don’t know what I can say. There are plenty of elements we can discuss today”.
Ambassador Vlahutin was very direct with her message addressed to politics:
“The matter of Albania in Europe, of an European Albania, requires a constant dialogue. I don’t understand how dialogue is so hard to achieve. You know that we have discussed the justice reform for more than one year and a half. The dialogue we wanted to have was with the Parliament Members. For some strange reasons, this desire brought reactions. One MP said in one of these meetings: “You have made a major mistake with the justice reform. It is not enough. Albania needs a new social contract and you should have started it”. I told him: “I am sorry, but you are the one who should have started this. I am just an ambassador”, Vlahutin said.
