The grouping of European People’s Parties in the EU Parliament announced that it officially recognizes Sali Berisha as the head of the Democratic Party, after several years of conflict between factions in the main Albanian opposition party.
Through a letter addressed to Berisha, the President of the European People’s Parties, Manfred Weber informs him to nominate candidates for the Political Assembly of the European People’s Parties.
“Dear President, at the beginning of each legislature of the European Parliament, the composition of the Political Assembly of the EPP is recalculated in proportion to the number of members of the European Parliament (Article 15 of the Statute of the EPP).
“You are requested to appoint your delegates (and their substitutes) to the EPP Political Assembly as soon as possible.
“In the attachment you will find the new composition which was approved by the Political Assembly on September 30 and October 1, 2024. The new composition will enter into force from the meeting of the Political Assembly in Malta on November 21-22, 2024,” it is said among other things in Weber’s announcement.
