The Central Electoral Commission will start on Thursday to double check decriminalization applications delivered by some MPs and Mayors. The process starts with Arben Ristani, secretary general of the Democratic Party and former leader Berisha is also included. In total, 13 MPs and 8 Mayors will be checked again.
Prosecutors have in fact asked for the mandate interruption only for 2 Mayors, Tërmet Peçi and Adriatik Zotkaj arguing they had not write in their applications they had been previously convicted. But the commission decided to double check all applications delivered after the first deadline.
The list includes names as DP MPs Eduard Halimi, Florian Mima, Myqerem Tafaj, Spartak Braho, and also Vangjel Dule, or Mayors Artur Bardhi, Edmond Themelko, Ndrec Dedaj, Rajmonda Balilaj, Adel Lala, Zef Hila and also Tërmet Peçi and Adriatik Zotkaj.
3 opposition members in the Central Electoral Commission reacted immediately by asking only the two Mayors mentioned by the prosecution to be double-checked. But Chairman Denar Biba decided the process should go on for the 21 officials, something expected to add to the heated debates in the political environment of Albania.
