Election 2021/ Appeals Commission rejects DP’s, accepts SMI’s for inspecting 24 ballot boxes

The Complaints and Sanctions Commission at the CEC has accepted today 1 of the 2 complaints of the SMI for irregularities in the elections, and rejected that of the DP for general result of the elections of April 25 in the district of Berat.

Elvis Cefa, complaints rapporteur, gave the details of the decision-making.

SMI demanded the invalidity of the elections in 24 polling stations in the Berat region and as a consequence the repetition of the elections, as it lost the mandate for only 77 votes.

While PD requested to admit additional irregularities evidence for the region of Berat, to the special prosecution SPAK.

DP legal representative Ivi Kaso expressed disappointment with the decision and warned of further appeals, hinting that the Democrats’ legal battle would shift to the Electoral College.

In addition to opening the ballot boxes of 24 polling stations to initially analyze the minutes and data of the electronic identification device, on Monday KAS will continue with the review of more than 20 remaining complaints.
