The President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development,
Suma Chakrabarti, declared that the justice reform will improve
Albania’s image for foreign investors.

“Former experiences in Eastern European countries that joined the EU, shows that justice was one think they could not fix properly before accession. Albanai is trying to do it beforehands, and I think this will give them a considerable economic advantage, because it is related to the law implementation guarantees, especially for trade laws which are very impotrant for the community of investors. This is good news for integration but also for creating an attractive environment for investors”,

EBRD: “Stable economic growth creates competitive economy”

The EBRD President says that after difficult years, Albanian economy is getting better after implementing the IMF agreement. “We think that the growth will be 3% and 3.5% this year, maybe 4.2% in the next year. The growth is returning and this is the result of a good macro-economic management”, Chakrabarti said.

However, he adds that Albania has a strong challenge, the creation of a modern economy.

“Albania needs a competitive economy to face competition while it progresses with the integration process. Our program for financial support of agriculture aims to commercialize Albanian agriculture and make it more competitive”, the EBRD Director said.

“EBRD has invested more than 1 billion EUR in Albania, in 75 different projects. I have the pleasure to announce that this year there will be a historic level. We will invest 150-200 million EUR”, Chakrabarti declared.
