Drug traffic accusations in Gjader

17/04/2014 00:00

After the opposition accused the government of using the military
infrastructure for drug traffic, the Ministry of Defense reacted through
the Deputy Minister, Dritan Hila, who traveled to the Gjader airport
together with representatives from the Armed Forces, to see if there are
tracks of an airplane that has landed there.

Hila denied all accusations coming from the opposition and declared that this airfield doesn’t fulfill any standard for landing. He urged the opposition to publish their evidence if they have any.

“It is impossible, because the airfield is filled with waste materials and an airplane cannot land here. These materials could made an airplane wheel explode. The airfield is surrounded by houses who can see everything”, Hila declared.

When asked by journalists how would the international community react to this news, more specifically Brussels, Hila declared that Brussels doesn’t take disinformation easy.

“These are jokes of a very bad taste”, Hila declared.

On the other hand, the opposition keeps insisting that there is evidence that the military infrastructure has been used for drug traffic, and asks the government if they have information, and what measures have the taken about it.

Braçe: There is no evidence for drug traffic

Invited in Top Channel’s main news edition, the Socialist Party Parliament Member, Erjon Brace, declared that there is no document from the secret services to implicate the army in drug traffic.

“First of all, allow me to say that there is no document to implicate the Armed Forces as organizers or helpers of drug traffic”, Brace declared.

As for the document of the opposition, Brace declared that the worst in this history is not its content, but the way how it was declassified and how it was handed over at the Democratic Party.

“The document has been declassified illegally and was handed over to the Democratic Party. Mr.Imami refers to that letter, which refers to year 2012 and after that. The document was sent from the Military Secret Service in October 2013, and refers to events that have taken place in 2012, and the other case is referred to March 2014”, he declared.

Concluding his speech as Parliament Member of the area mentioned by the opposition in their accusations for drug traffic through the army, Brace declared that it is impossible for airplanes to land in that area.

He added that these accusations are damaging the dignity of the Armed Forces, and asked the President, as Commander in Chief, to intervene and put to place the dignity and honor of the Armed Forces, and keep the secret services under control.
