During the joint conference between the three representatives of the opposition in the Political Council, Gazment Bardhi, Petrit Vasili and Oerd Bykykbashi, the latter stated that Edi Rama is trying to deprive the voters of the opportunity to determine how strong a political party is.
The representative of the Democratic Party in the Political Council stated:
“Coalitions and open lists work without any problems with each other. The coalition we use today is an open list form for the party, which the voter determines with his vote. It is the same thing we are trying to do with this proposal so that with the open lists the voters determine how much each candidate is worth.The voter has the opportunity to vote and nominate the party and on the same ballot paper everyone is a candidate of that party.Each coalition party comes out with a special name and the vote cast determines which party it goes to. Rama in his ignorance but also his insidious intent uses this logical connection in order to remove the coalitions. Technically they are solvable, as it is only a matter of drafting the ballot paper. Rama’s goal by removing the coalitions is to annul the vote of the citizens. The ballot paper with coalitions is not a ‘thick book’, as Rama says. It will continue to be simple.
