Usage of technology for the next elections is a priority in the Democratic Party platform.

“Biometric identification of voters, electronic voting and ballot count, bringing the results out immediately without having to count the ballots in specific centers. The electronic ballot count is a basic matter in this platform”, declared Oerd Bylykbashi, DP representative.

The majority did not oppose the idea in principle, but said that more guarantees are needed for the process in a country where political mistrust is huge, and where two pilot projects failed before the elections of 2013.

Bashkim Fino, from the Socialist Party, said that a pilot project could be used in one specificn district, but it will not resolve the problem, since a single district could be enough to manipulate the entire result.

The Democrats say that if the parties agree for the electronic voting, this part of the electoral code should be approved within this session, a time that coincides with the time when the Parliament needs to decide about the justice reform.
