The decision of the Bureau of the Albanian Parliament to suspend former
Prime Minister Berisha with 10 days was answered with 10 days of boycott
from the Democratic Party.

Berisha was suspended after accusing PM Edi Rama in Parliament of changing his name due to Spanish investigations.

The decision was given this Saturday by the meeting of Parliamentary Group led by Edi Paloka.

“This is a boycott against the Parliament that honors criminals and punishes those who report crime”, Paloka said after the meeting.

The opposition says that the Parliament’s decision is an effort to shut their voices down.

These developments block the work of the Justice Reform Commission and also put in question the Rama-Basha meeting, foreseen for the next week.

Lulzim Basha, the Democratic Party leader, said that this punishment against Berisha is a crisis of the majority.

The DP leader added that this is an ugly reminder of the double standards held by a majority full of crimes, vices and corruption.

According to the DP leader, by leaving the opposition outside the Parliament, Edi Ram and Ilir Meta are only deepening the isolation and accelerating their fall.
