Deputy PM: “Civil employees cannot be part of electoral campaigns”

The Albanian Deputy Prime Minister, Ledina Mandija, said in a press
release that public administration employees can participate in
political activities, but are not allowed to express their political
preferences in public.

“Public employees are allowed to be part of political activities, but not to express their political preferences in public. This means that they are not allowed to undertake actions in favor of a political subject or candidate, they cannot be protagonists in political activities or manifest with slogans.

We also explain that political activities during the official work hours are banned for any member of the public administration.

Every participation brings criminal responsibilities, based on the latest amends on the criminal code.

The Deputy PM Mandija expressed her full will that all institution leaders must take measures according to the law, for respecting the obligations of state employees and proceed against violations as the law requires”, the Deputy Prime Minister states in her declaration.
