Albert Mahmutaj, 2005 Kickboxing world runner-up, protested on Tuesday, along with his family, wife and four children, in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.

For 15 years the government has not given him any of the owed financial rewards. Mahmutaj says that promises have been numerous but today he made public his request on Top Channel, after his protest escalated into a symbolic act in front of government offices.

“The reason I am protesting is a right that has been denied to me for years. In the 2003 championship, I was owed 60 million old lek. In 2005, they were 80 million old lek. Although former Prime Minister Sali Berisha issued an order from this office in 2006, that I receive the reward, they would give me 15 million lek, and the rest of the procedure was forgotten”, he said.

The denial of this right has forced the world runner-up to live today only on a small salary and in a rented house.

“I have decided to meet the prime minister, I will not leave from here. I quit work where I worked I want to definitely meet the prime minister”, he insists.
