Debate for Budget 2014

23/12/2013 00:00

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, discussed the draft-budget 2014
with the former Prime Minister today in Parliament, saying that compared
to that of 2013, which, according to Rama, was an electoral budget, the
new one of 2014 will mark the return of the economic recovery.

“Budget 2014 is not electoral. It is the budget that confronts the economic crisis and the financial catastrophe that we have inherited. However, this is a bigger budget than that of the last year, and not a budget of crisis. It is a clear plan, and economic and social return. Is not for inaugurations that plunge the country into debts, like the ones that we inherited from the previous government”, Rama declared.

Rama declared that the progressive tax corrects the injustices of the past and divides the fiscal tax equally among citizens and businesses.

“1 million Albanians showed their stance against the flat tax, which damaged the middle class, the small budget and the poor people. The honest tax that will enter in effect on January 1st will recover the Albanian economy and will use justice in dividing the burden between the people. This is the solemn act of correcting the injustice that made nurses pay more taxes than the Minister of Health, teachers and police officers pay more than their Ministers, and the Prime Minister’s driver pay more than the Prime Minister”, Rama declared.

The former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, considered the Budget 2014 the greeting card that is meant to fraud the Albanian citizens.

“We didn’t talk about the budget here, but for the opposition and not for the 1 million unemployed that he has mentioned so many times. You showed to the Albanian people that your greeting card is that of misery and fraud. The budget has died before it is even born”, Berisha declared.
