Customs claims now online, no contact with officers

Businesses will be able to make their customs claims online, without
being physically present. Pranvera Fagu, the Director General of
Customs, says that this will reduce corruption by avoiding a direct
meeting with the economic operators.

The US Chamber of Commerce met with the Customs Director and listed a series of concerns from businesses, some of which were very old.

Alketa Uruci, from the US Chamber of Commerce, said that the application with the reference prices will be regulated once and for all, not based on the dispositions of the Customs Code.

Besides references, businesses asked the Customs leaders to compensate them for the unjust double payment of the scanner, a concern raised by Bardha Dibra from the US Chamber of Commerce.

Due to a mistake with the Rapiscan agreement, thousands of businesses were forced to pay twice for the obligatory scanning, once in the border and once in the local customs.

Although the government amended the agreement later, businesses were not compensated.
