The National Council of the Democratic Party decided today on the new members of the Presidency, of whom only 15 were elected by secret ballot.
For the leading elite and the secretariats, which are automatically part of this forum, there was no race or alternative candidacies. The omission of Jamarbër Malltezi, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Berisha, attracted attention.
The two rivals of President Basha for the leader of the Democratic Party, Fatbardh Kadilli and Agron Shehaj, will not be part of the new Presidency, the latter will remain only a simple deputy.
Enno Bozdo, a critical voice of the DP leadership, was also not confirmed, while former President Bujar Nishani, who was part of this forum due to his position as chairman of the National Council, lost this right.
Nishani was the first to break the silence of Lulzim Bashe’s opponents by erupting in accusations against him, calling him ‘traitor and servant of Edi Rama’.
Gert Bogdani, Aldo Bumci and Ervin Salianji, who two years ago were displaced by female colleagues due to gender quotas, managed to collect the necessary votes to be part of the Presidency, along with Gent Strazimir.
Klevis Balliu, Xhelal Mziu, Luciano Boci, Helidon Bushati, Igli Cara, Bardh Spahiu and Dashnor Sula did not win in voting for the Presidency.
DP respected the gender quotas by electing 5 ladies, while new entrants to the Presidency were Fitim Zekthi and the elected MP Agron Gjekmarkaj.
