CoVid-19 update: 186 number of affected in Albania, 8 victims

The number of people affected by CoVid-19 in the country has reached 186. Director of the Public Health Institute, Albana Fico, said in a daily press briefing that 12 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

“We inform you that field work to identify new cases and trace the contacts of confirmed positive cases is ongoing. 102 suspects have been tested in the last 24 hours, of which 12 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed.

“To date, 1246 suspected cases have been tested and confirmed positive with COVID-19, 186 cases.

“Two patients have died yesterday evening and this morning – an 85-year-old woman from Tirana and a 66-year-old man from Fier confirmed with COVID-19 at the Tirana infectious hospital. Unfortunately, the number of people who died from COVID-19 is now 8. The Ministry of Health expresses condolences to the families of the deceased in this difficult time.

“There are currently 77 patients hospitalized, 5 of which in intensive care. The rest of the admitted are in stable condition until this moment. The map of those affected by COVID-19 is now extended to Puka and the numbers have increased in Tirana, Korça, Fier, Shkodra and Durres.

“So far we have one doctor and one nurse recovered, from a total of 31 cured patients, which proved negative in the tests.

“The Ministry of Health and Social Protection once again addresses the citizens with a plea: Don’t go to the hospital right away! The Ministry has made available a FREE 0800 40 40 green line to any citizen seeking information or advice regarding COVID-19”, stated public health director Fico.
