Covid-19 patient dies by suicide after jumping from 3rd floor of the hospital

A serious event occurred in the early hours of this morning in the hospital ‘Shefqet Ndroqi’ in Tirana when a young man jumped from the 3rd floor, thus dying on the spot.
The youngster was being treated for Covid-19 and is reported to have had panic attacks during the night. The investigation team and the Police services are at the scene and continue the work for the full clarification of the circumstances of the event.

An official reaction from the “Shefqet Ndroqi” hospital came on the event, saying:

“The staff of the university hospital Shefqet Ndroqi expresses the sorrow for the loss of life of the 29-year-old with the initials Xh. K. who ended his life this morning, and expresses his most sincere condolences to his family. The young man confirmed with COVID-19, was being treated for 4 days with full therapy in the hospital “Shefqet Ndroqi” and his condition was stable. “Regarding the reasons that led the young man to this extreme act, the investigation is being carried out by the competent bodies. The staff of the University Hospital “Shefqet Ndroqi” assures the citizens that it will continue to provide with dedication and professionalism, health service for patients treated in our hospital.”
