Covid-19 / Health Ministry: 3 deaths and 71 new cases in the last 24 hours

Meanwhile, 459 tests were performed, of which 71 resulted positive: 24 cases in Tirana, 8 in Elbasan, 6 in Durrës, 5 in Kruja, Kukës and Lezhë, 4 in Kurbin, 3 in Vlora, 2 cases in Korça, Shkodër , Përmet, and 1 case in Delvinë, Vau Dejës, Bulqizë, Kamëz, Fier.

In the last 24 hours, 45 citizens have recovered from the disease, bringing the number of cured people to 1702 since the beginning of the epidemic.

Currently in our country there are 1183 active people with COVID19, mainly in Tirana, Shkodra, Kruja, Durres.

Dr. Eugena Tomini from the Institute of Public Health stated that the increased trend of cases with Covid19 has continued during the past week.
“A higher number of tests has been carried out and the percentage of positivity was reflected with the same level of consistency throughout the week. The presence of COVID19 cases is directly related to citizens self-awareness and strict implementation of hygienic and sanitary safety protocols.

“In the last 24 hours, 3 citizens have not been able to win the battle with the dangerous virus, among them a 69-year-old doctor from Puka, who has been fighting the disease in the infectious disease hospital for several days. The two other citizens, a 63-year-old from Lezha and a 65-year-old from Tirana, also lost their lives despite the efforts of doctors. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased.

“There are still hospitalizations in the infectious disease hospital where there are currently 78 patients in the hospital, of which 9 in serious condition in intensive care, 2 of them intubated in serious condition”, stated Tomini.
