Covid-19/ Albanian government bans nightlife, Manastirliu: No more discos and nightclubs, neither outdoors or indoors

Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu spoke today on the Government’s decision to ban the opening of nightclubs, discos, bars and any kind of service of this nature indoors or outdoors, except restaurants, as a preventive measure against the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said that with the Government decision, comes to force immediately the Normative Act which provides:

– Night clubs, discos, lounge bars and any kind of service of this nature in closed or open environment, except restaurants, are prohibited. Failure to comply with this obligation by the entities is punishable by a fine of 3,000,000 ALL and suspension of activity for a period of one year.

– Prohibits music after 20.00 o’clock in all service facilities of any kind. Failure to comply with this obligation by the subjects, is punished with a fine of 1 000 000 ALL and in case of repetition, with suspension of the activity for a period of six months.

Albania continues to record increases in the numbers of those infected with Covid-19.

She added that 123 patients are currently being treated at the two Covid hospitals, and to date 112 citizens have lost the battle with this disease, even withthe extraordinary efforts of our medical staff.

“This situation we are going through requires the strict implementation of security rules and protocols. Any negligence or non-compliance with the measures, affects the health of us all. The virus makes no distinction. It affects all ages, and spreads rapidly, where people allow it.”
