Covid-19; 23 new cases in Albania, infections map expands

23 new cases of covid-19 have been confirmed in the country in the last 24 hours, 12 of which are in Tirana.

The total number of infected has now reached 1099, of which 215 are active.

Dr. Eugena Tomini from the Institute of Public Health provided the details:

“During the last 24 hours 276 citizens were tested as suspected with Covid-19 and 23 were confirmed positive cases, 12 of which in Tirana.

“8 are contacts of previous positive cases whereas 4 are new cases in the investigation process.

“From the in-depth epidemiological investigation at QSUT, 57 health personnel and patients were tested, and all of them resulted negative.

“6 cases were confirmed in Mat, contacts of one patient in QSUT hospital, and 4 cases in Lushnje, contacts of positive cases confirmed earlier in Tirana. 1 new case was in Durrës.

“The infectious disease hospital is currently treating 23 patients, 5 of whom are in intensive care.
In the last 24 hours, 28 citizens have been cured, bringing the number of cured people to 851 since the beginning of the epidemic.

“The Ministry of Health and Social Protection appeals to citizens to be careful and maintain physical distance over 1.5 meters. When physical distance is not achieved, the use of a mask is necessary. Measures of personal hygiene should be combined with washing your hands as often as possible, for more than 20 seconds. Avoid closed spaces and crowds and take care of the elderly.”
