Albania’s Muslim community announced today through a Facebook post that the Jumah prayer will be canceled due to the epidemic situation in the country.

Regarding the move, Prime Minister Edi Rama thanked the Albanian Muslim Community for its commitment to the fight against disease.

The Muslim Community announcement states that the Islamic religion attaches great importance to the sanctity of human life and its protection. It mentioned that in cases of epidemic outbreaks, the Prophet Muhammad commands that “if you hear that an epidemic has fallen somewhere, do not go to that place! If it hits you in one place while you are there, don’t go away to save yourself from it! ”.

It stated that as a result, quarantine and avoiding of all unnecessary movements, is the precautionary measure to be taken.

It further instructs the five times of the Muslim prayer to be taken in an unorganized manner, but the “ezan” is to be regularly invoked in all mosques
