The Justice Reform is not the only condition for Albania’s EU
integration progress. The property law is one of the five key
priorities.
Same as with the justice reform, Albanians will ask the Venice Commission for advise. This was seen as the best solution agreed by the Constitutional Court meeting this Tuesday.
Before deciding if the property law is constitutional or not, the court decided to take the opinion of the Venice Commission. This step was expected, because official sources confirmed that there is a division among the Court opinions, similar as between the government and the President.
The Constitutional Court rejected the request of the Albanian President and of two owner associations to suspend the property law, which has entered in effect the past two months.
Taking an opinion from the Venice Commission aims to resolve the disagreements with the Constitutional Court for the property law, although the justice reform case could not achieve this.
