The Association and Union of Judges filed a complaint at the
Constitutional Court against the new law regarding the justice system.

Their complaint say that some articles go against the Constitution, specifically paragraphs 7.a and 7.c, which provide that Judges must have a 10-year-long experience and receive a “very good” evaluation for their ethical and professional performance.

Judges also want to repeal article Article 59.1, which says that the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the High Judiciary Council are elected in the first meeting of the council, voted by simple majority of the members, and only from judges who no longer work as judges. For this article, judges want to remove the word “Vice Chairman”.

Judges also want to change article 62.8, which states that the Commission for Strategic Planning and Budget Administration is made by two non-judge members and one judge member. They want the words “two non-judges and one judge member” to be removed.

The same thing is asked for article 62.13, which defines the review of complaints from the Supreme Justice Inspectorate. The request of the Union and Association of Judges was made on May 25th, and was accepted by the Constitutional Court.
