The Competition Authority has started an investigation on companies that
operate in the energy market, in order to close the network losses.
This move comes after concerns that there might be a hidden agreement
regarding the price they offer.
When asked by the MPs of the Commission of Productive Activities, the Head of the Competition Authority, Lindita Lati, said that the preliminary investigations showed that among the companies which are part of the tender process there are no traces of any agreement that would reduce competition.
Lati said they are investigating on another lead, for which she cannot give any further detail. The Commission also heard Albanian energy supply associations who demanded a new law for the energy sector with a zero fee for exports, for the Albanian Power Corporation to be inactive in the retail market and the Albanian Energy Distribution Operator to be limited only in clients who pay with fees. They say every their involvement in the unregulated market violates the competition.
