Cocaine hidden among bananas/ Wanted company owner Trifon Murataj, two port employees arrested

On Thursday afternoon in the port of Durrës, the police in an anti-drug operation among the bananas imported from Ecuador by the Albanian company Banaking, found hidden packs of cocaine with a total weight of 33.5 kilograms.
The police had received information about the shipment of bananas in which drugs had been inserted.
The cargo departed on September 20 from the “Puerto Bolivar” Port of Ecuador, 10 days later it stopped in Panama. The cargo arrived at the Port of Durrës on October 28, and the anti-drug dog check was carried out on November 3.
The police announced the warant for the owner of Banaking, Trifon Murataj, while 3 people were arrested as they are suspected of organizing cocaine trafficking in cooperation with each other.
57-year-old Petrit Demishaj was arrested for drug trafficking, while scanner operator Alban Naziraj and imager Artur Sevdaraj were arrested for computer forgery.
This is not the first time that in addition to bananas, cocaine is also found in Banaking’s containers. On December 30 of last year, the owner of the company, Trifon Murataj, contacted the police 10 hours late to report that “the banana container was attacked in Romanat by armed men” who left without taking anything from the cargo.
From the check carried out in the warehouse of the company in Vaqarr, the police seized 119 kg of cocaine and arrested the administrator Marson Murataj, grandson of Trifon Murataj.
