Chief Prosecutor Olsian Çela started duties today from the city of Elbasan, with a tour of meetings with seven district prosecutors.
In his speech to the media, Çela spoke about an unprecedented situation created in the city as a result of armed conflicts between criminal gangs.
The senior Prosecution official from Elbasan admitted that parts of city are being controlled by crime and that the prosecution and police will no longer tolerate the settling of accounts between gangs, so he added that an exemplary response is needed.
“A city cannot be turned into a war scene. I encourage you to continue the investigation. No criminal can be stronger than the state. Elbasan prosecutor’s investigations will be coordinated with other units. Elbasan can not turn into Sicily of the ’70s”, stated Cela among other things.
