CEC refuses to register DP in local elections, main opposition party appeals to KAS

The Democratic Party appealed to the KAS commission for the CEC decision not to register them as an electoral subject in the May 14 elections due to the absence of the resignation signature of the former president Lulzim Basha.
After the decision of Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi, the legal representative of the Democratic Party Indrit Sefa stated that this was a political decision and that he will appeal it to the Appeals and Sanctions Commission (KAS).
In the DP’s appeal, it is stated that today’s decision-making by the commissioner was political and consequently KAS is required to review the appeal.
“The PD has no time to waste, this was a political decision by the commissioner.
We request the review by KAS of our complaint, which will take into consideration the DP’s requests and annul this decision, which is completely unfounded in the law”, he said.
