Vaqarr Prison near Tirana is the only prison in the world where the guards do not take service to prevent any possible escape, but only to protect the material base.
The place is also the only prison in the world that has only one convict, who goes out in the morning and comes back every evening at 20:00, to sleep in the cell.
Agim Tufa, 62 years old, convicted of domestic violence, arrives at the prison every evening, according to the court order.
Tufa is serving this sentence until the end of the year.
This concessions are made as he is the only convict as Vaqarr prison and because after the reconstruction it will be turned into a low security prison. Food for Tufa is brought from another prison.
