The institution of statistics, INSTAT, says that housing construction has increased 2.2 fold compared to the same period of last year.
221 construction permits were issued in March 2018, and just 101 for the same period of 2017.
100 million USD are expected to be invested in Tirana, Fier and Durres.
Not every construction is for the housing sector. According to INSTAT, many permits were given for hotels and commercial buildings.
The construction sector has been increasing for the past three years, meeting the opposition of environmental experts. The opposition, on the other hand, accuses that the construction is a money laundering of the drug traffic, since loans taken by builders are still low.
