The phenomenon of blood feuds destroyed other lives yesterday in the village of Manati in Lezha in northern Albania.

17-year-old Florian Pervathi with 4 bullets killed yesterday 65-year-old Lek Lekgjonaj, whose only ‘fault’ was that his brother had killed Florian’s father.

Ndue Lekgjonaj committed the murder 13 years ago when Florian was only 4 years old.

While the funeral ceremony was being held in the Lekgjonaj family of Manati, the 17-year-old did not express any remorse to the investigators for the murder.

The initiator of the blood feud reconciliations in the area, Pjetër Gjoka, spoke about the event. He says that yesterday’s event surprised the families as there have been no conflicts between the parties for years.

Gjoka said that in 2009 there was an attempt for reconciliation by the victim’s side.

He also stressed that the Pervath family was told that there is a “reconciliation of the moment” but not a solution to the situation.

The missionary of blood feud reconciliations says that he now hopes that the killing will end here and not cause more tragedy for these families.
